Uncalled for! Its.... T H E C O M P L E T E L Y B O G U S F I N A L F A N T A S Y 3 F A Q ! ! Version 4.0 (Final Version) INTRO: Sometime in February of '95, Scott Tengelin started a thread on this newsgroup involving hidden characters in FF3, which were made up. Since there are so many people out there who have done everything there is to do in FF3, yet still enjoy the game, the thread became rather popular. People not only came up with ideas for secret hidden characters, but also places to get to from other video games and exciting new endings. I posted to the thread and suggested that someone make up a Bogus FAQ, which would include all this humorous and exciting stuff. Then I decided, what the heck, why not me? Scott and I gathered up all the stuff we'd saved from the thread's postings, and I organized it, forming a 17K file, and posted it. Lots of people posted more ideas to the thread and some sent me ideas directly, so I continued to add them in, all the while organizing, improving, editing, and adding lots more stuff. In addition to the original version, I posted Version 2 (45K), Version 2.5 (56K), Version 3.0 (73K), and Version 3.5 (95 freakin' K), as well as this version, which is about that size. This is, in theory, the final version of the FAQ (Version 4.0), and I'm finishing it up because it takes waaaaaay too much time to write and edit one of these things. (Though I am planning to hang on to it so I can repost or send copies by request.) I'd like to thank everyone I've listed under the writers/ compilers section for sending me ideas to improve stuff and more entries, mostly for the Hidden Characters section. (I'd also like to be thanked (or thank me) for fitting all this stuff in and putting it together, fixing all or most of the spelling mistakes, and adding a lot of neat stuff to some of the endings, even though it all was, at least to a certain extent, a labor of love.) Anyway, if you see mistakes in the FAQ or anything, you can still write me at comberia@wam.umd.edu so I can have them fixed in any repost or copies I send out. I'd also like to hear comments about what you liked or didn't like about this FAQ, so go ahead and send them. Again, I'm not planning to add more new stuff or make any more big revisions; this file is really long and really complex already. (In fact it takes an hour or two just to read through it, let alone edit it.) Well, without further ado, the final version of The Completely Bogus Final Fantasy III FAQ!!: HIDDEN CHARACTERS: Ultros: Take the Cross to the Colosseum. Bet the Fireball (don't worry;you'll get it back) and you will fight Ultros. He'll only join you after thebattle _if_ you have the Cross. ULTROS: "Blue... eight arms... sharp teeth... a smelly octopus with a heart of gold." Ultros's commands are: Fight Magic Tentacle Ink Item Low HP attack: X-Tentacles (Tentacles surround the enemy and attack it.) Kefka: To get Kefka to join your party, use the Illumina Sword on the GemBox; it'll break open and reveal the Amulet of True Light. Kefka willsuddenly appear in front of you, repent for all he has done, and head off to your airship. KEFKA: "Once a follower of the dark, now a student of light. His laughstrikes terror in all." Kefka's Commands are (to start): Y-Fight X-Magic Special Twin Item Y-Fight is similar to X-Magic; Kefka attacks once with a regular blow, then attacks with a special weapon, which Muddles, Poisons, or Dooms an enemy. Special makes Kefka attack with Grand Chorus, which gives all enemies a random status change such as death and quartr. If you have Kefka and Kakef together in the same party, they can use the Twin attack. First, it rains 2 X-Meteos on the enemy party, then it does a spell similar to Merton, and finally it casts a spell similar to Ultima. Unless _both_ twins have the Economizer equipped, the spell costs them each 200 MP. Kefka's status screen contains these hidden attacks/ special abilities: Call (randomly calls one of the 3 statues to attack enemies) Havok Wing Laugh Rage SwdTech KefkaWave (similar to a Dark Knight's "Darkness" attack) Light of Judgement LeoZ (Kefka briefly morphs into Gen. Leo and does Shock.) Laugh makes all enemies mindless slaves, and they either join you or fight themselves for the rest of the battle. He uses this automatically in the Colosseum against party members you find there. When you use the Light of Judgement, all targets take 9999 damage regardless. Unfortunately, this only works inside towers. Kefka's X-Magic spells include: Fallen One Moo: Kefka turns opponents into cows. You Lose: Doom spell for the whole enemy group. Double: Kefka gets 2 turns, every turn, for the rest of the battle. Kefka's Rages include: Fighter: Powerful Pearl attack. Bl.Belt: Multiple hits, not Magic related. B.Mage: Does random Black spell from FF1. W.Mage: Does random White spell from FF1. Thief: Steals with a success rate of 100%. R.Mage: Does totally random spell from FF1. Kefka's SwdTechs are as follows: Havok wing is Swdtech 9. Revenger is Swdtech 10. Kefka's Laugh is Swdtech 11. Grand Chorus (also Kefka's Special attack) is Swdtech 12. SwdTech 13 is a Dummy SwdTech, because it's been dummied out of the game. KefkaBolt is Swdtech 14. It's like AuraBolt, but it does 9999 damage 8 times. There is also an unnumbered SwdTech called God!. Kefka can learn it if you shoot the Black Gun at the White Gun. Low HP attack: Magittack (Kefka dons Magitek armor and attacks all enemies.) Note: If Kefka joins your party, it obviously changes the ending. You can still get the Sabin ending, the GoneGone ending, or the M. Bison ending, but you can't get the Erdrick ending. However, if you don't try to get any of these you'll just end up with the Espers-Don't-Die Ending, and you'll win after you kill the third tier of the Final Boss. (This is quite a letdown, but it's an easier way to get the Espers-Don't-Die Ending.) Kakef: (Kefka's good twin) You get Kakef on Gau's father's roof, but you have to have Cyan or Celes fix his chair first. There will be a BIG reunion scene if you put him and Kefka in a party together. KAKEF: "Is he familiar? A stranger? Or just another brother of another character? Who can say?" Kakef's commands are: Fight Disappear (only with Invisibility Ring) Magic Twin Item Disappear works outside of battle, too. Kakef is highly vulnerable against magic after disappearing, but he can walk through walls inside castles and some caves. Low HP attack: Storm (Similar to Fallen One; Kakef knocks an enemy down to less than ten hit points.) Note: Depending on which ending you get, Kakef may or may not actually be an imposter. (See the Ultra Combo ending.) Cid: Put Locke and Kefka in a party together, then go to the Solitary Island and talk to Cid. You'll fight Ol' Grandad. Have Locke Steal, and you will get the Razor. Cid will grow facial hair, change his clothes, and learn the Peep command. He will then admit to building the airships and blow himself up. Go to the Dwarven underground and find him by the nurse. CID: "Technology is his servant, machines are his voice in the world." Cid's commands are: Fight Peep Repair (sort of like Health, but it works much better on machines thanpeople.) Item Low HP attack: Mecha Drop (Cid morphs into a cybernetic creature and Suplexes an enemy.) Baram: Use the Vanish-Fire28 (learned from Siggy Esper) trick on Intangir to knock him out. While he's unconscious use the Holy Scissors to remove his mask (mentioned in the Book of Secrets). It's Baram! If Shadow is in the party, he'll agree to join you as soon as you feed him 22 pieces of coral. If you sleep at an inn with Baram in your party, he has four different fantasy dreams about Mog. BARAM: "He comes and goes like the wind. His name is known, but his past is hidden." Baram's commands are: Fight Mock (becomes Insult when equipped with Paladin Loafers) Steal (he's a thief, remember) Item The Mock command contains 12 insults which Baram learns with level-ups. You can change it to Insult if you equip him with the Paladin Loafers, which increases its power. Low HP attack: Red Spiller (Baram jumps at the enemy and attacks with aknife; similar to Celes's Spin Edge) Ken, Ryu, Jax, Akuma: (Hard way): If you take Relm into the Colosseum and bet the Black Belt, you get Ken. But if you take Celes and do the same thing, you get Ryu. Jax appears in the cheap seats of the Colosseum after you bet the RealMustache; you can fight him if you bet the Scorpion Doll. To convince Jax to join you, send Kefka in when you bet the Scorpion Doll, he'll use his Laugh command and Jax will join you. Akuma is also sitting in the stands, four rows down and two seats over from Jax. He'll challenge you to a Hadoken contest in the Colosseum if you use Ryu as your fighter and bet the Purple Belt. Win, and he joins you. (Easy way): Go to the Colosseum with Cid in your party. Bet a weak item to make Chupon appear. The fighter will get sneezed out of the arena. Bet another weak item and fight Chupon again. (Remember, you _want_ to be sneezed.) Finally, after five tries of this, Cid gets disgusted and makessome cold medicine. (It turns out Chupon only had a cold! That's why he's been sneezing!) Send Cid into the arena after he says he's made the medicine, and he'll give it to Chupon automatically. Chupon will be so grateful, he will become Cid's best buddy, and he'll give Cid a big wet kiss. Ken, Ryu, Jax, and Akuma will become so angry at the whole business that they'll destroy the Colosseum and then join your party. (BTW, take Edgar and Cid into the ruined Colosseum, and they'll rebuild it, also adding a trap door which leads to the Esper Street Fight Arena.) KEN and RYU: "A street fighter with an attitude... Shoryuuuuuu... KEN!" Ken & Ryu's commands are: Punch Kick Shoryuken Hadoken (only when equipped with Fireball) Item Low HP attacks: Super Combo (Just like their super combos, of course. Works with either Punch or Kick.) JAX: "An interdimensional cop, ready to stop all who break the law." Jax's commands are: Fight Fatality (sort of like Doom, either it kills or it misses) Ground Slam (hits all enemies on the ground) Wave Item Low HP attack: Gotcha Grab (Same as in MK2, but always hits 4 times.) AKUMA: "Perhaps just another powerful warrior, perhaps the devil himself." Akuma's commands are: Fight Uncurse (works outside battle too) Mimic (particularly effective with Ryu or Ken) Item Low HP attack: Devil's Grin (The screen turns white and you see giant eyesand a mouth appear vaguely. You then hear Kefka's laugh, and the screen returns tonormal. Hits all enemies.) Jago: If Sabin or GoneGone becomes the last guy, you'll be able to get Jago. (His purpose and location will depend on which last guy it is.) Sabin Ending: You'll find Jago meditating on the top of Mt. Zozo. Jago can get you straight to Sabin from anywhere in Sabin's Tower with his spin kick. Just get in a fight and have Jago cast Hangon. Then have Jago Spin. Poof! You're at Sabin (after a nifty cinema of flying by everything in the tower). GoneGone Ending: Since you must be in the W.O.B., you'll find Jago meditating on the top of Mt. Koltz. Jago can get you straight to GoneGone from anywhere in the W.O.B. with his spin kick. In fact, this is the only known way to reach GoneGone (except through the Ultra Combo ending). JAGO: "One combo-bustin' ninja with a serious attitude!" Jago's commands are: Fight Combo (gets anywhere from 3 to 35 hits) Spin Kick (instantly go to the boss of the area you're in) Item Low HP attack: Car Drop (Jago sits down and meditates, then a car falls onone enemy.) Luigi: Luigi is sitting on the third level of the Ancient Castle, before you find Porom and Palom. Talk to him, and he'll stop eating his pasta and join you. There is also a Dark Luigi, which you can find and defeat in Wario's Castle in WarioLand. Porom and Palom: They're standing in the Third level of the Ancient Castle(the switch is 8 steps south of the King's throne). If you talk to them, they say something about a time warp. (They don't join your party.) If you take the path on the right in the time machine, you'll end up at the Mario search game, Mario is Missing. If you take the road on the left instead, you'll see Cecil's greatgrandson, who will give you a clue about finding Cecil. (He says that gathering all the Paladin equipment will summon Cecil, and that Cecil will be waiting for you in the Colosseum.) Farther along the left path is the entrance to Baron in the Overworld of FF2. Mario: After you find Luigi, you will be able to play Mario is Missing. At the end, you will have Mario (duh). MARIO: "A star in his own right, a plumber with power and an attitude." LUIGI: "A koopa-stomping plumber with an appetite for pasta!" Mario and Luigi's commands are: Stomp Fireball (only if Fireball is equipped, of course) Jump (also breaks ceilings) Item Low HP attacks: Hammer Toss (Works with Fireball command. Mario morphs from small Mario into Hammer Brother Mario and tosses hammers, attacking 2enemies. Luigi does the same thing.) Toad: Really hard to get. Bet the Dirk at the Colosseum and beat Chupon, Ultros, or Darth Vader. You will win the Mushroom. Take this to Gau'sFather's House with Edgar in your party. Fix his stove, then use the Mushroom while in the house to bake a Mushroom Souffle (only Edgar knows how to make this). Take the Mushroom Souffle back to the Colosseum, bet it, and you will fight Toad! After the fight, he will join you just like Shadow did. (Note: If you destroy the Colosseum, you can still get him after it's been rebuilt.) TOAD: "He squeaks when stepped on, and has the strength of thirty mushrooms." Toad's commands are: Stomp Throw Cook Souffle (heals party members) Item Low HP attack: Buddy Tosser (throws another party member at enemies; throws himself when alone) Cecil: To get Cecil, you will have to find and uncurse 8 cursed items. (Remember, there are two of each cursed item, and only one of each can be uncursed. Akuma's Uncurse command works well.) The uncursable cursed items you must find are: Cursed Ring: Steal from creatures in Kefka's or Sabin's Tower. Cursed Boots: Hidden in the Fanatic's Tower. Cursed Helmet: Hidden in the cave to the Sealed Gate; use the Paladin Boots to walk over the lava to get to it. Cursed Armor: Hidden in Narshe. Cursed Rod: In the third level of the Ancient Castle, near Cecil's greatgrandson. Cursed Sword: Hidden in the Cave after the Esper Street Fight Arena. Cursed Loafers: Buy them in a hidden shoe store behind a painting in Jidoor. Cursed Emerald: After uncursing the other 7 uncursable items, you'll be teleported to the crystal chamber on the moon. The 8 crystal will thenmerge, become cursed, and turn into an Emerald. Once you uncurse the Emerald, Cecil's ghost will return to life, and he'll head to the Colosseum. Go there and bet the Emerald. Cecilwill then join your party if you defeat him. CECIL: "The hero of another age, one who has seen both light and darkness." Cecil's commands are: Fight Paladin Blitz (a powerful Blitz that doesn't require controller motions) Cover White Item Low HP attack: Royal Break (Sort of a combo of Royal Shock and Tiger Break.) GesthalZ: After Kefka and Kakef's reunion scene, fly around in the airship until you are attacked by GesthalZ, Gesthal's ghost. Use one Fenix Down or Revivify on him, and he'll come back to life and join your party. GESTAHLZ: "Once a powerful emperor, he, too, has seen both light and darkness." GesthalZ's commands are: Fight X-Magic Command Possess P. Morph (morphs into a Phantom, similar to Terra's ability) Command is a stronger form of control, in which GesthalZ does not losecontrol of the target if it gets hit. It only stops if he or it dies. Low HP attack: Magimasher (GesthalZ casts a powerful spell and the screenturns black. Hits all enemies.) Zemus: With GesthalZ and Kefka both in your party, cross over into the Overworld of FF2 through the time machine in the Ancient Castle. Zemus joins your party as soon as you arrive, filling the new place for a fifth party member. ZEMUS: "Enemy of millions, he has seen the light AFTER the darkness!" Zemus's commands are: Fight Big Bang Black Hole Black White Low HP attack: W. Meteo (Zemus jumps to the center of the screen, looks tothe sky, and chants the spell. Hits all enemies, usually by 9999.) Warning: After you build your own airship from the parts at the auction, remember to get the Crystal of Flight from under the statue in the Ancient Castle so you can go to the Moon, or else the airship will crash and you'll be stuck in the Underworld, and you'll lose your chance to get Zemus here. However, once you repair the Airship and get the Big Whale, you can find him on the Moon. Garland (from FFI): He'll appear once you enter WarioLand, on the other side of the Esper Street Fight Arena. You have stop him from completing his 1000 year time loop. In order to do this, find the Mind-Control Helmet that they used on Terra at the beginning (Look around Narshe and tap "a" at various walls.) Use it on him, and he'll realize that he can't get back to the future, so he'll join your team. He can use the Elemental Orbs which are very powerful. GARLAND: "The enemy of all, who was lost in time..." Garland's commands are: Fight Warp (his time warp; it takes you back to the beginning of the currentbattle) Morph (into Chaos, of course) Black White Elements (Elemental Orbs, used like Espers) Item Low HP attack: Cure4 (Similar to Zemus's. Cures Garland completely.) Meltdown: You can get Meltdown from the original version of KI in the Cave to the Sealed Gate. (You though they just renamed him Cinder, rather than replacing him, didn't you?) He's near the Cursed Helmet. MELTDOWN: "He has left to find his freedom as a fire warrior..." Meltdown's commands are: Fight Combo Melt (works like the Fire3 spell) Item Low HP attack: Inferno (Meltdown kneels down and shoots a stream of fire from his hands. Hits one enemy.) General Leo: Fight Platinum dragons, sometimes they give up a Resurrection Potion when they die. Take the potion to Leo's grave; he'll return to life and join you. Leo is always equipped with the Offering and Atlas Armlet, so his attacks are much stronger than expected. You can also revive him with the powered up Phoenix Esper. GEN. LEO: "Back with a vengeance (you thought he was dead!), on the side of the right!" Leo's commands are: Fight Shock Burn (again, it helps to have the Fireball) Item Low HP attack: Earthquake (Sort of like a Shock super combo move.) Maduin: Enter Kefka's Tower through the secret entrance in the back with Cid in your party. When you get to the remains of the Magitek Research Facility, Cid will use the Tower's equipment to drain the Guardian and put the energy back into Maduin. (If you've already beaten Guardian, don't worry, because we're talking about the other Guardian, which is invincible.) This revives him, and he then joins your party. MADUIN: "Yet another relative, with yet another tragic story, an Esper with great power." Maduin's commands are: Fight C. Wing (Chaos Wing) X-Magic Item Low HP attack: Magicite (Maduin jumps to the center of the screen and calls a random Esper.) Sigma: After reviving Maduin, a Sentry 274 (Sigma) will appear and challenge you at the exit of the room. Once you wear Sigma down, he'll call WarMech to help him. If you defeat WarMech, Cid will reprogram Sigma, and Sigma willjoin your party. You'll also receive the Dryad esper, which teaches you Mana Magic, Blaster, and Sleep. SIGMA: "Forged of energy, strength of steel, a robot pal with power!" Sigma's commands are: Fight L. Saber (Light Saber) MagiTek Item Low HP attack: Takedown (Sigma calls his dog to attack.) Note: To find the Tower's back entrance, you have to have a member of your party equipped with the True Knight (or you can use Cecil's Cover if you have him). Walk in a circle around the Tower and you will fight various enemies. Make sure one of your characters is Near Fatal, so the True Knight (or Cecil) will protect him/her. When the True Knight (or Cecil) blocks a blow, he will be knocked off screen. Win the fight, and he'll come back with knowledge of the secret entrance. Mega Man: Leave Kefka's (or Sabin's) Tower after beating the dragons, and go back to the Solitary Island. Downstairs is Mega Man, sitting where the raft used to be. (He won't be there if Dr. Light has already assembled X for you.) If you use his megablaster on Brachosaurs without charging it up, you'll get an Economizer each time. If you charge his blast up first, you can get a Gem Box or Offering instead (50% chance of either). MEGA MAN: "Skin of titanium, a rock-and-roll warrior of great technology!" Mega Man's commands are: Shoot Charge Rush Item Using Rush calls Mega Man's dog, Rush. It's similar to when Shadow calls Interceptor. Low HP attack: None. Mega Man X: When going through the Magitek Factory, search for a secretpassage (it involves jumping off one of the conveyors into a bottomless pit) and you will be alone in a room with a chest. Kill the monster-in-a-box (Vanish X-zone works) and he'll give you a Detached Arm. Give this to Cid (after you revive him in W.O.R.) and he'll give you a Rare item, the Textbook of Robotics. (If Cid is in your party already, you'll automatically receive it from him in a short cinema scene.) Let Gau's father read the Textbook (he won't unless you fix his stove) and he gives you an Energy Tank and suggests meeting his uncle at the Colosseum. Go to the Colosseum and bet the Detached Arm; you'll fight Dr. Light. Beat him (it's tough since magic doesn't work, but Edgar's Chainsaw and Air Anchor are pretty good) and give him the Energy Tank. He takes your Detached Arm, goes into the back (storyline... sigh... tap tap tap tingity ting ting ting... etc...) and Mega Man X will appear, telling you that it was Kefka who took the arm off in the first place and that he'd like to assist you in beating that psychopath, Kefka. (Of course, if Kefka is in your party, he'll try to kill Kefka right there, but your other party members will convince him that Kefka has reformed.) Like the other robot characters, he's immune to the effects of Ultima. MEGA MAN X: "A robot with abilities as diverse as they are powerful." Mega Man X's commands are: Shoot Device Rush Item The Device command allows Mega Man X to use the abilities of the bosses, such as Absolute Zero, S. Cross, N. Cross, etc. Mega Man will learn theability from a boss if he's in your party and he survives the battle. (After a boss fight, he goes up to the disintegrating boss and pulls out some sort of sphere and plugs it in. Then he has the ability.) Mega Man's WallChange is particularly nice. Gogo can use them too; if you find Mega Man and then go to Gogo's status screen to set up his commands, you'll see the Device command at the very bottom. Low HP attack: None. Note: You'll be able to get either Megan Man or Mega Man X, depending on whether you find the Detached Arm in the chest or not. If you don't find the arm in the Magitek Factory, you'll have to find the regular Mega Man in Cid's house. You can upgrade him into X by finding the four parts hidden all around WarioLand and taking them to Dr. Light. Luca: After GeshtalZ joins your party, you can go to the Underworld in FF2and find Luca, who has become an incredibly powerful caller. (She now calls Espers at will.) She's in the throne room of the Dwarf castle. LUCA: "Mage with links to another world, all creatures heed her call." Luca's commands are: Fight Call Call Collect (doesn't use MP, but sometimes the Espers refuse) Item Low HP attack: Moon Prism (similar to Relm's Star Prism) Edge: First, get rid of the really rich guy in the Auction House, then buy the Pencil for Relm. Go back to the W.O.B. through the Opera House with Relm and 2 other people in your party (don't bring Gogo). Head north and there will be 4 miniature Atma Beasts waiting for you (they've grown up and flown away already if you try to find them in the W.O.R.). If you can kill them, a secret passage to the airship Falcon will appear. Fly it to Triangle Island and fight Intangir. Sketch him while Relm is equipped with the Pencil. Thegame won't crash like usual, but instead a whole pack of Intangirs will appear on the screen. (You'll see little penciled outlines of them.) Relm will yell for help, then Edge will come from above and kill an Intangir with the Vanish-Sneak technique, causing the rest to flee. He then will join your party. (Or he'll be in your airship later if your party's full.) Edge comes equipped with two swords that give him a total of 5000 damage, and he knows lots of nice Ninja spells. EDGE: "A king, a ninja, a king-ninja, a ninja-king! What a guy!" Edge's commands are: Fight Sneak (Becomes Capture when you equip the Thief's Glove.) Throw (Becomes Throw Really Hard when you equip him with a javelin.) Magic (Ninja magic, of course) Item Low HP attack: Royal Blitz (powerful ninja lightning attack) Erdrick: This can be done near the very beginning of the game, as well aslater on. You must find the Turtle's Carrot in the desert surroundingFigaro. Take it to the turtle in the cave to South Figaro before you fight Kefka. (You can do it after you fight Kefka, but if you do, you won't be able to kill Kefka at Figaro Castle). Jump over to the door behind the spring and inside you will find Erdrick. The next time you meet Kefka, Erdrick will kill him, ending the game. Unfortunately, you can't actually use Erdrick in combat; he just appears during any scene with Kefka. (This automatically gives you the Erdrick ending.) Kappa: Let the man at the auction buy all 1,200 of the airship pieces. (Luckily, after 15 pieces, the auctioneer sells the other 1185 to him atonce.) He builds a whole airship out of the pieces, and flies away. (You can also get rid of him by luring him and his daughter out into an alley and beating him up.) Thisleaves you to buy whatever you want, including the Imp Robot, a.k.a. Kappa. You can also now buy a Pencil for Relm, that she can use on Intangirs, and another airship. KAPPA: "A strange guy. A really strange guy. A really, really strange guy. A green guy. An imp robot." Kappa's commands are: Fight Mecha (Mechanical Attacks) Magic (but he can only use the Imp spell) Item Low HP attack: Imp Rush (similar to Moogle Rush) Grant: You can get Grant, the thief from Zozo, by taking Gogo to Zozo and talking to the guy who says "Zozo? Never heard of it." Gogo will Mimic him, and they will have a Zozo type conversation (everything that is said is a lie). When the conversation is over, Gogo will have convinced him to join, and he'll tell you that his name is Grant. (Whether he's telling the truth now or not is anybody's guess.) GRANT: "A master thief and a convincing liar. Good thing he's on your side." Grant's commands are: Stab Capture Steal Magic Item If you equip Grant with the Thief Glove, Steal turns into Rob, and Grant can steal from the entire attacking group of monsters. Low HP attack: Drop Blade (Works with Stab command. Grant climbs the side of the screen and across the top until he's right above an enemy. Then he dives at them, knife first.) Boel: Get Boel, the merchant from South Figaro, by bringing Edgar to the Cider merchant under the Cafe. Boel will go on about how the old man is too distraught about the world being ruined that he won't buy his Cider! He joins hoping that destroying Kefka will get the old man to buy his Cider again. BOEL: "A desperate merchant and a master salesman." Boel's commands are: Fight Sell Magic Item When you use Sell, Boel temporarily takes one of the monsters out of the fight and tries to sell it something. Low HP attack: M. Cocktail (throws a flaming drink at an enemy) Scott: To find Scott, first take the Turtle's Carrot to the Chocobo hut in South Figaro. Give it to one of the Chocobos and he'll turn into a Black Chocobo. Jump on him and he'll fly you to a mountain top near Narshe. (In the background you can see the lights of Narshe.) Enter the hut on the mountain and there will be Scott! And is he ready for war! He comesequipped with Paladin Armor, Paladin Shield, Paladin Helmet, Paladin Boots, and the Paladin Pendant. (And no, you can't unequip them, and they don't count towards getting uncursed items.) The Pendant sets all evade, magicblock and stats that are not covered by the other paladin items to max. Fora weapon he has the Paladin's Rubber Band! That's right, a rubber band! Unfortunately, he can't use magic, but his two commands, Snap and Sting, areawesome. SCOTT: "Who is this guy? And why does he use a rubber band?" Scott's commands are: Snap Sting Item Snap does 9999 damage with every hit, even with the Offering. Sting paralyzes enemies with a stinging shot from the Rubber Band. Low HP attack: Slingshot (similar to Umaro's rage attack, works with Snap) Anthony: In the Mario Is Missing world, as soon as you reach Paris, sell all your Espers. The merchant will turn out to be Tony, the compiler of the FF3 Bogus FAQ. (Anthony's more than 6 letters long.) He will try to destroy all the Espers you sold him, and you will automatically fight him. He's pretty tough, but you should be able to beat him if you equip Shadow, Locke, or Luigi with the Offering and Genji Glove. (BTW, Vanish-Doom makes him impervious to weapons and refills his hit points to max.) Watch out for his Secret Cheese, which he attacks you with when he runs out of hit points. After you beat Tony, you will see this big cinema scene about ten different endings, with some comments about the secret endings. He will then join your party, and you'll get your Espers back. TONY: "One mean merchant with the powers of the gaming gods..." Tony's commands are: Fight Transform (Temporarily turns Tony into a random hidden character.) Esper (Just like using Magicite; he harnesses the Espers' power.) Edit Item Edit: Since he writes the game he can rewrite monsters too! This command transforms an enemy into a different enemy. However, it might transform them into a more powerful enemy, so use it carefully. Low HP attack: Secret Cheese (kills enemy unfairly) Siggy: Bet the Chupon Suit at the Colosseum, you will fight Sigfried. Beat him, and he'll change his name to Siegfried, then he'll run off to the Phantom Forest. Now go to the Phantom Forest a third time (it changes each time), and you'll be able to find the Mana tree. Use the Chocobo Axe (or the Ultima Axe) on it to chop it down. The Sprite from Secret of Mana will show up and fight you. He's not too tough, but the Vanish/X-zone/Doom trick doesn't work on him. Anyway, when you wound him sufficiently, he will explode and take the Mana Tree with him. Siegfried will show up, plant a new one, and ask you to water it. Cast Aqua Rake or use a Water Skean on it and Siegfried will change his name to Ziegfried and run off again. Now you'll find him stalking about on the Phantom Train. You have to fight him, and he will keep running away. Use the Lead Weight on him, and he won't be able to run anymore. He'll finally give up and join you, but first he'll change his name to Siggy, so it'll be less than 7 letters long. When you get him, he's equipped with the Siggy Esper and the Siggy Sword. SIGGY: "First Sigfried, then Siegfried, then Ziegfried? Well, he's finally joined you!" Siggy's commands are: Y-Fight X-Magic Uncurse Item Low HP attack: Sig Frier (Siggy will shoot a powerful blast of fire out of his sword and fry an enemy.) (The Hero, Sara, Nina, and Bleu are from Breath of Fire.) Hero from B.O.F.: Bet the Bahamut Esper at the Colosseum, and, trying to help another dragon, Hero fights you for it. Beat him and he joins you, like Shadow and Toad. HERO: "A great hero, lost in an unfamiliar adventure, searching for his friends..." The Hero's commands are: Fight D. Morph (Dragon Morph, becomes Roast when in dragon form) Magic Item Low HP attack: Not Morphed: Dragon Blitz (calls more dragons for help.) Morphed: MegaFlare Sara: To get Sara to join you, take the Hero from Breath of Fire to the Fanatics Tower. Defeat the White Dragon, and it will turn into the Hero's sister, Sara. She will release her part of the Crusader seal, and join you. (If you've already killed the White Dragon, just fight it on the Veldt.) SARA: "Sister of the great Hero, she will make any sacrifice." Sara's commands are: Fight D. Morph (Just like Hero's.) X-Magic Item Low HP attack: Not Morphed: Dragon Punch Morphed: MegaNuke Nina: In the World of Ruin, after you get the airship, return to theSolitary Island, get the Palidor Magicite, and wait for 5 minutes. Nina will wash up onshore. Take her to Cid's house to heal. Go out for a while, and come back. She will have recovered and will join the party. NINA: "A magic master with the powers of a bird." Nina's commands are: Fight Palidor (she turns into a bird and executes the move of the Palidor Esper) Magic Item Low HP attack: Wing Snap (powerful air attack) Bleu: In the World of Ruin, have Nina cast Warp. You will be teleported to Wisdon. Walk through the palace and fight Bleu's guards. Beat them, and Bleu will join you. To get back, cast Warp again. BLEU: "Another magician, with the powers of a snake." Bleu's commands are: Fight X-Lore S. Magic (Snake magic.) Item X Lore is a stronger version of Lore, in which Bleu learns not only Lore and regular spells, but Rage attacks too, like Wing Snap, Bite, etc. She'll learn any of Gau's Rages the same way she learns Lores. Snake magic is used primarily for throwing big rocks at enemies, but it also consists of a few powerful spells. Snake Magic is magic that only Bleu can use (with a few special exceptions). She joins knowing all of her Snake Magic spells. They are as follows: Meteo W. Meteo Meteor X-Meteor Merton X-Merton She can also learn ANY other spell by seeing it used. If it is a Lore or a special attack, it goes in X-Lore. If it is a normal spell, it goes in her S. Magic. Low HP attack: Snakebite (VERY strong version of Poison) Rydia: Go to the W.O.B., and head for the Serpent Trench. Before jumping in, equip one of your characters with the Paladin Sword. Keep going right, and eventually you'll run into Leviathan. The character equipped with the Paladin Sword will go berserk and kill Leviathan. Now Rydia will appear, and your characters will convince her to help you out. Follow her through a cave; if you keep up with Rydia then you will come to the exit of the cave. Outside the cave you find yourself in Eblan. Enter the castle, and Rydia will be in the castle's throne room with her husband Edge (unless he's already joined you). They'll throw a dinner party with lots of guests. After the party, she'll join you, along with most of the guests. Then you'll return to your airship through a door in the back of the castle, bringing them all along. You won't be able to control the guests, but they'll follow you everywhere, like in Dragon Warrior. Only Rydia will join you as a playable character. (This also gives you the special version of any of the endings.) RYDIA: "A caller from the far, far past..." Rydia's commands are: Fight Call Magic (she can use white, black, and effect now!) Item Low HP attack: Bird Song (Rydia turns into a big green bird and claws enemies.) Zero (from Mega Man X): Bet the Radar Tracer at the Esper Street Fight Arena (bet the Energy Tank here to get the Radar Tracer first). You'll get the Airship Radar. Give it to Cid and he'll equip it on the airship for you. The next time you are on the airship, you'll see three flashing dots at random locations on the small map in the corner. These are the locations of the X hunters from Mega Man X2. Head to the cave or town that the light is pointing to and search for the X hunter there. Beat it, and you'll receive a Zero Part. (The X hunters locations change every time you get on the airship). Once you have all three parts, take them to the Colloseum. Dr. Light will meet you as soon as you go in. He'll rebuild Zero, then Zero will join your party. Like Mega Man X, Zero can gain the powers of the bosses. ZERO: "Perhaps the finest Maverick of all time..." Zero's commands are: D. Shot C. Beam Device Item If you use Double Shot (D. Shot), Zero can shoot two high power blasts at once. He can choose one target or two. It can do 5000 damage to two targets or 9999 to one. With Crescent Beam (C. Beam), Zero can use his sword to shoot a crescent shaped beam at the whole enemy group. It hits for 3000-5000 damage. Low HP attack: None. Draco and Ralse: When you get to the W.O.R., go to the Opera House withUltros in your party. He'll lead you through a secret pathway to the 3rdfloor (where Celes walked with the flowers). You'll see Draco and Ralserehearsing. They'll stop to attack Ultros. Beat them and they'll join you. While you're up here, look behind the pillars and you can get the Sacrifice relic, which is a stronger version of the Offering. DRACO & RALSE: No quote, they just appear in you airship. Draco's commands are: Fight SwdTech Cover Sing (Like Edward in FF2) Item Low HP attack: Deafener (Draco sings a really high pitched note. Sounds like the Vacuum2 spell in 7th Saga.) Ralse's commands are: Fight Duel Item When you use Ralse's Duel command, he jumps up to a single enemy and hits it several times. The command only works when he's equipped with a sword. Low HP attack: Convincer (Ralse convinces enemies to fight each other after landing a powerful blow.) Maria: To get Maria, fall through the trap door in the Opera house 25.5 times, then go to the Inn at Jidoor. The person there will be selling Tickets to the Opera. Buy some Tickets, and take Celes to the Opera House. Go to the main desk and give the usher your Tickets. You will be escorted to your seat. The Opera will start, and show Maria singing. Then the rafter rats will jump down and attack the audience. You will be drawn into combat, fighting some of the rats. When you beat a few groups of them, you'll fight Redrat, who's much more powerful than the other rats (and also stronger than Rattatooie). After you knock off about 20,000 hit points, Redrat will use Cheese Breath on you and blow away two of your fighters (just like Phunbaba). Now Maria will jump down from the stage and join you. With her help, you will be able to kill Redrat. (You won't be able to control her, she attacks on her own, a la Cyan.) After after a short conversation with Celes, she'll officially join you. MARIA: "She has grace, beauty, and a voice that will blow you away." Maria's commands are: Fight Sing Duet Magic Item Duet is a stronger version of Sing, but she can only do it if one of the following characters are in your party (the ones who can sing): Celes, Setzer, Kefka, Kakef, Darill, Gaze, Draco, or Ralse. It's similar to a Twin attack. Low HP attack: Sonic Song (Sound blasts all enemies. Damages and confuses.) Darill, Vargas, and Doomgaze: First, let the man and daughter at the Auction House buy the airship and fly away. (You can also get rid of them by luring the guy into a back alley and then pounding him unconscious.) Then get Kappa, and take him to Kohlinghen to where the two people are planting trees. Kappa will use analyze (Mecha), and discover that the seeds they were using were Phantom Seeds. The people will replace the seeds, and then they'll give you the Phantom Seeds. Now, go to the Phantom Forest and throw the seeds into the recovery spring there. Theseeds will instantly grow into an extension of the forest. Go into the new section of the forest, and you will end up at the train platform. ThePhantom Train will come by and drop off Darill and Vargas (as well as Shadow if he died on the Floating Continent), you will join you or wait in your airship. It'll remain stopped, so you can go inside and challenge Doomgaze. Doomgaze will know some new spells this time, so he's harder to kill than you might think. He will often cast Deathgaze, which casts Doom on everyone. Make sure someone is wearing the Relic Ring. After you defeat him, Doomgaze will say, "You guys are strong! I'm sticking with you!" After warning him not to double-cross you again, you let him join. (He changes his name to Gaze.) Gaze always floats when he's in your party. DARILL: "She flew faster and farther than anyone else. Now she's returnedfrom the great beyond..." Darill's commands are: Fight Summon Magic Item With the Summon command, Darill may summon an Esper, and she can do it as many times per battle as she wants. The MP Cost to Summon are half of what they usually cost, but she must know all the spells of an Esper to Summon it. Low HP attack: Blue Card (similar to Red Card) VARGAS: "The great martial artist, son of Duncan." Vargas's commands are: Fight P. Blitz Magic Item P. Blitz (Phantom Blitz) is similar to Sabin's Blitz, but with a twist of "ghost." i.e.,Phantom Dance replaces Fire Dance, and uses ghosts rather than people. Low HP attack: Bummer (similar to Bum Rush but faster and longer) GAZE: "An undead soul who roamed the heavens, searching for prey." Gaze's commands are: Fight Flight (more powerfull form of jump) X-Magic Command Possess D-Magic Escape Item D-Magic are Doomgaze's natural spells, so they don't cost MP. When you use Escape, you can run away from things that cannot usually be run away from, but not bosses. Low HP attack: L.2 Doom Note: There is a guy in Albrook that says, "I saw Doomgaze in the sky. I'd rather take an acid bath than fight that thing!" Take Gaze to him and he will have a heart attack. Once he's unconscious, you can steal some gold or a Tonic from him. Give him a heart attack enough times, though, and he'll go into the Cafe, and will be too drunk to to be scared. Talk to him, and he'll give random responses which indicate that he's drunk. Wedge and Vicks (if you let them die at the beginning): First have Mega Man, Mega Man X, Sigma, or Zero bet one of their Energy Tanks at the Esper Street Fight Arena (don't worry, you'll get it back). You'll fight a giant Hard Hat (it's easy to beat). Win and you'll get the Radar Tracer. Have Cid or Dr. Light equip it to Mega Man, Mega Man X, Sigma, or Zero. Head to Kefka's or Sabin's Tower with Cid and the robot equipped with the Radar Tracer in your party, as well as the Phoenix Esper. Go to the part where it looks like the old MagiTek factory. The Radar Tracer will reveal a secret passage that your robot will blast open. Inside will be a hidden machine. Cid will use the machine to drain energy from your robot's other Energy Tank and restore the Phoenix Esper to full power. (You'll lose an Energy Tank, but it's worth it.) Take the full power Esper to the cave in Narshe. The screen will glow and Wedge and Vicks will appear back from the dead. They'll join you, but, if either Kefka or GesthalZ is in your party or on your airship, they will attack you, blaming Kefka and Geshtal for sending them on the mission that led to their deaths, and you'll have to beat them to convince them to join you. Otherwise they'll just join you. (You can also use the powered up Phoenix esper to restore Gen. Leo.) WEDGE & VICKS: "The greatest soldiers of the Empire..." Wedge and Vicks's commands are: MagiTek X-Magic Item Low HP attacks: None. SPELLS: Deathgaze: Gaze (a.k.a. Doomgaze) knows this spell when you get him. It casts Doom on the entire enemy party. Fire!!: Random effect, but it always has something to do with a fire. Youcan learn this from the Siggy Esper. Fire28: Use with Vanish to knock out Intangir. Learned from Siggy Esper. Hangon: Jago has this spell when you get him. Just have him cast it, and the other characters will all hang on to him. (You can now use his Spin Kick to get to the last guy.) Imp2: You become immune to the effects of Ultima. The Bowser Esper caststhis on your party when you use him. Meteor2: If you use the Meteor Ring, it casts Meteor2. It's basically the same thing as meteor, but it has little firey people instead of rocks (like Fire Dance). This works well against Sabin. Moo: Either turns people into cows or has a giant cow fall on them. Kefkahas this spell when you get him. Snake Magic: Snake Magic is the magic that, for the most part, only Bleu can use. She joins knowing all of her Snake Magic spells, which include: Meteo W Meteo Meteor X Meteor Meteron X Meteron Ultima2: Sabin will always cast Ultima2 right away and all of your characters from the airship come to serve him, unless you equip Ryu with the Fireball. (Ryu will Hadoken him immediately to stop him from casting the spell.) It's basically a more powerful version of Ultima, since it affects robot warriors like Mega Man and Kappa also. You can learn this from the Chocobo Axe after 255 fights. (It turns into the Ultima Axe.) Ultima3: You can Steal this spell from some of the really powerfulcharacters. Once you cast it, it morphs all of your party members intoreally strong Paladins for the duration of the battle. (Unfortunately, ituses 999 MP without the Economizer.) Ultima4: You can learn this from the Siggy Esper, but you can't cast it. Exodus casts this when you defeat him. Warp: Nina has this spell when she joins you. It brings your party to andfrom Wisdon, where you can get Bleu. (Not to be confused with Garland's Warp ability.) ITEMS: Airship Horn: You'll get this from the ghost at the Last Refuge. Use it next to Necrosaro's Volcano to call your airship. (See the Mystery Dragon Ending for the full explanation.) Airship Radar: Bet the Radar Tracer at the Esper Street Fight arena. You'll get the Airship Radar. Give it to Cid and he will equip it on the airship. The next time you are on your airship, you'll see three flashing dots at random locations on the small map in the corner. These are the locations of the X hunters from Mega Man X2. Amulet of True Light: Use the Illumina Sword on the Gem Box to break it open, and you'll receive this. Using it will cause Kefka to join your party. You can also use it on the FakeMustache to turn it into the RealMustache. Black Gun: Take the warp from the Opera House to the W.O.B., but, whileinside, go to the secret side path rather than straight ahead. If youcontinue to the left, you'll eventually find a monster-in-a-box, Atma Armor. Defeat him and you'll get the Black Gun. Use the Black Gun on the White Gun, and Kefka will receive the God! SwdTech. Cheese: Fight a group of enemies outside the Opera House in the World orRuin, and cheese them by using the Vanish-Doom technique. You'll win theCheese. Take the Cheese up to the rafters above the stage and use it. In a few seconds, a whole herd of rats will come out and fight for the Cheese. Challenge their leader, Rattatooie. If you beat him, you'll open up a secret warp to the W.O.B. Chocobo Axe: Go to the Chocobo forest right outside Baron in the FF2Overworld; in there you can choose between the Chocobo Esper and the Chocobo Axe. After 255 fights, the Chocobo Axe turns into the Ultima Axe, which teaches Ultima2. Go back to the Phantom Forest the third time (it changes each time you go there), and you'll be able to find the Mana tree. Use the Axe on it to chop it down and to get the Sprite from Secret of Mana to fight you. Chupon Suit: You can win the Chupon Suit by killing Chupon Behemoths. Betthe Chupon Suit at the Colosseum and, surprisingly, you'll challenge Sigfried instead of Chupon. (This is the first step for getting Siggy to join you.) Cross: The Cross is found by uncursing the Cursed Rod. Take it with you to the Colosseum and bet the Fireball. You'll fight Ultros, and he'll only join your party after you beat him if you have the Cross. Crystal of Flight: Search for this under a statue in the first floor of the Ancient Castle. You can equip this on Edgar's throne in Figaro Castle or you can equip the Auction House airship with this. Either vehicle will then be able to fly to the FF2 Moon. Demon Ring: Get this at the Paladin Castle by showing the Demon Sword to the guards. After you receive this, go in the castle, and Kefka will get down on one knee and propose to Celes. He'll give the Demon Ring to her as an engagement ring. Demon Sword: This is in the fourth chest in Wario's Castle. You can get it after you fight the DarkLuigi. The room with the chests can be found by searching the north wall and pressing the "A" button. Use this at the Paladin Castle to get the Demon Ring. Detached Arm: Get this by defeating a monster-in-a-box in the MagitekFactory. Take it to Cid to get the Textbook of Robotics, then take theTextbook to Gau's father (after you've fixed his stove) to get an EnergyTank. Bet the Detached Arm in the Colosseum to fight Dr. Light; beat him and Mega Man X will join your party. Dragon Crowns: You can get the 8 Dragon Crowns from the Greater Dragon King if you send him the Note by pigeon. Take the Dragon Crowns with you to give to each of the 8 Dragons when you fight them. (If you've beaten them already, they'll all appear on the Veldt as soon as you get the Dragon Crowns.) After you give out all 8 Dragon Crowns, you'll fight the Great Flying Darth. Dragon God Sword: Defeat Kakef inside the Black Hole Dragon to get this. Kefka will automatically use it against GoneGone in the final battle. Elemental Orbs: Garland can use these at any time when you control him. They work like Espers (since he can't use Espers), and include Lich, Kary, Kraken, and Tiamat. Energy Tank: You can get one of these from Gau's father if you show him the Textbook of Robotics after you fix his stove. Take it with you to the Colosseum when you bet the Detached Arm, and Dr. Light will use it and thearm to revive Mega Man X. Mega Man, Mega Man X, Sigma, and Zero are alsoeach equipped with two of these when you get them. You can also bet it at the Esper Street Fight Arena to get the Radar Tracer. (Energy Tanks are Relics.) Fireball: You can obtain Fireballs easily by using the Vanish-Fire28-Combo trick on Fireball Dragons. (And you usually get a Killer Combo from this trick, too.) When fighting Sabin or GoneGone at the end, equip Ryu with the Fireball, and he'll Hadoken him at the start of the battle to stop him from casting Ultima2, which forms a tower under Sabin or GoneGone consisting of all the characters in your airship. Flammie Drum: You can get this by beating the three characters from Secret of Mana in Cyan's dream. It only appears in the SUPER SUPER SUPER SECRET ULTRA ENDING. Holy Scissors: Take Locke back to the Barber Shop where Gau got his hair cut before he went to see his father (It's in Jidoor). Have Locke talk to the barber, and he will fight him. ("I'm a treasure-hunter, not a thief! And I don't need a haircut!") Just Steal the Holy Scissors! Iceball: Go to WarioLand with Baram in your party, and sleep in Wario's bed. (The first Cursed Ring turns into the Paladin Ring.) Kefka Suit: Fight Pink Pugs to get the Pug Tail, and equip it for 2.55battles to uncurse it and get the Kefka Suit. Equip Kefka with this and the Paladin Sword to get sucked into the Black Hole Dragon and get the Ultra Combo ending. M. Souffle: Take the Mushroom to Gau's Father's House with Edgar in yourparty. Fix his stove, then use the Mushroom while in the house to bake aMushroom Souffle (only Edgar knows how to make this). Take the MushroomSouffle back to the Colosseum, bet it, and you will fight Toad! After thefight, he will join you just like Shadow did. (Note: If you destroy theColosseum, you can still get him after it's been rebuilt.) Mega Armor: Find this in WarioLand; Cid can use it along with the other three parts to convert Mega Man into Mega Man X. The Armor is hidden on the first floor of Syrup Castle. Mega Boots: The boots are hidden in WarioLand, on the train in the Parsley Woods Zone. Mega Blaster: The blaster is hidden in WarioLand, in the Stove Canyon. You need either the Mega Boots or the Paladin Boots to walk over the lava to get this. Mega Helmet: The helmet is hidden in Warioland, on the S.S. Teacup. Meteor Ring: Getting this is hard. Go to Mysidia with Kefka, Baram, and Shadow in your party. Kefka will see Golbez, and they'll get into a big argument and start mud-wrestling. Kefka wins, but the villagers tell you that you'll have to stay overnight at the Inn while they clean Kefka up. Since Baram and Shadow are in your party, you'll see Shadow's sixth dream and your party will go inside Shadow's soul for an adventure. At the end of this you'll battle Zemus's uncle Steve and his henchmen. The best way to kill Steve is to use the Slave Crown or Mind Control Helmet to give you control of one of the henchmen. Beat him and you'll get the Meteor Ring. You can use this ring to cast Meteor2, which works well against Sabin. Mind Control Helmet (from beginning): Look around Narshe and tap "a" atvarious walls. Use it on Garland to convince him to join your party. (Works the same way as the Slave Crown.) Mushroom: Bet the Dirk at the Colosseum and beat Chupon, Ultros, or Darth Vader. You will win the Mushroom. Take this to Gau's Father's House with Edgar in your party. Fix his stove, then use the Mushroom while in the house to bake a Mushroom Souffle (only Edgar knows how to make this). Take the Mushroom Souffle back to the Colosseum, bet it, and you will fight Toad! After the fight, he will join you just like Shadow did. (Note: If you destroy the Colosseum, you can still get him after it's been rebuilt.) Note: (The Note is an item, this isn't just another note about something.) You'll see this on the table in the Returner's Hideout, and either you (Terra) or Banon will throw it away. To get the Mystery Dragon ending, take Cid back to the part of the Serpent Trench in the W.O.R. where the Hideout was, and he'll find the Note. Give the Note to a passenger pigeon in Maranda. Pencil: Get rid of the rich man in the Auction House by letting him buy a whole airship and flyingaway, or by luring him out into an alley and beating him up. Now you can buy whatever you want, including another airship and a Pencil for Relm. (If you get rid of him by beating him up, no one else in the Auction House will ever overbid you again.) Take Relm, equipped with the Pencil, to Intangir's island and Sketch an Intangir. You'll draw a whole herd of Intangir shapes, and Edge will save you and join your party. Pug Tail: While on the FF2 Moon, go to Bahamut's Cave Subteranne 2, where you can fight the Pink Pugs. The Pink Pugs always give you the Pug Tail if you beat them. Equip this (it's cursed) and fight for 2.55 battles. (It gets uncursed just after you've killed half the bad guys in the third battle.) It will turn into the Kefka Suit. Purple Belt: Ryu, Ken, or Toad can win this from Intangir if they kill him while he's visible. Radar Tracer: Have Mega Man, Mega Man X, Sigma, or Zero bet one of their Energy Tanks at the Esper Street Fight Arena (don't worry you'll get it back). You'll fight a giant Hard Hat (it's easy to beat). Win and you'll get the Radar Tracer. You can bet this at the Esper Street Fight Arena to get the Airship Radar, but first have Cid or Dr.Light equip it to Mega Man, Mega Man X, Sigma, or Zero. When equipped, the Radar Tracer will reveal a secret passage in Kefka's or Sabin's Tower in the part where it looks like the old MagiTek factory. Razor: After you get Kefka, take him and Locke to the Solitary Island tofight Cid. During the fight, have Locke Steal or Capture; he'll get theRazor (it's a Rare item). RealMustache: Use the Amulet of True Light on the FakeMustache, and it will become the RealMustache. Resurrection Potion: You can win this after killing a Platinum Dragon. Takeit to General Leo's grave to revive him. Sacrifice: Go up to the upper balcony in the Opera House. Search behind the pillars and you'll find the Sacrifice, a stronger version of the Offering. Scorpion Doll: The Scorpion Doll is buried with General Leo, you'll get itwhen you bring Leo back to life with the Resurrection Potion. Bet it at the Colosseum with Kefka as your fighter to get Jax. Sealed Weapons: At the top of the Cult Tower in the Timeless World, you'll fight Cowkef and the soldiers from the Order of the Ebon Cow. After you defeat them, you'll receive the 12 Sealed Weapons, which you need to defeat Exodus. They include: Excalipur Masamune Doom Bow Berserk Axe Pink Pug Tail (whip) Cow Bell Excalibur Love Bow Cupid Arrows White Wizard Sword Moon Staff Moon Rod Go to the FF2 Moon and enter FuSoYa's cave. Head down to the center ofthe moon and equip all the Sealed Weapons. Exodus will appear, and you'llfight him. Siggy Sword: Siggy is equipped with this when you get him. When you equip it, it increases your defense and magic defense as well as your attack. Slave Crown: This gives you control of an enemy character in battle, much like Relm's Control ability. You can win this from Rattatooie or from some enemies on theFF2 Moon. Textbook of Robotics: Take the Detached Arm to Cid in the W.O.R. to get the Textbook of Robotics, a Rare item. (If Cid is in your party already, you'll automatically receive it from him in a short cinema scene.) Let Gau's father read it (he won't unless you fix his stove) and he gives you an Energy Tank which you can bet at the Colosseum to get Mega Man X to join your party. Tickets: Fall through the trap door in the Opera house 25.5 times, then go to the Inn at Jidoor. The person there will be selling Tickets to the Opera. Buy some Tickets, and take Celes to the Opera House. Go to the main desk and give the usher your Tickets. You will be escorted to your seat. (After completing the scene that follows, you'll be joined by Maria.) Turtle's Carrot: Find this in the desert near Figaro. Give it to a Chocoboto find Scott, or give it to the Turtle to find Erdrick. Ultima Axe: If you equip the Chocobo Axe for 255 fights, it turns into the Ultima Axe. This teaches you Ultima2. White Gun: Go into Kefka's or Sabin's Tower through the secret rear entrance and head downward. Eventually you'll go through a cave and enter the Focus Tower. Inside the Focus Tower you can find the White Gun. Fire the Black Gun at the White Gun and Kefka will receive the God! SwdTech. Zero Parts: Bet the Radar Tracer at the Esper Street Fight Arena (this is the only item you can bet here). You'll get the Airship Radar. Give it to Cid and he will equip it on the airship. Next time you are on the airship you'll see three flashing dots at random locations on the small map in the corner. These are the locations of the X hunters from Mega Man X2. Head to the cave or town that the light is pointing at and search for the X hunter there. Beat it and you will receive a Zero Part. (Note the X hunters locations changes each time you get on or off the airship). Once you have all three parts, take them to the Colloseum, and Dr. Light will rebuild Zero for you. CURSED ITEMS: Note: there are two of every cursed item, but it's only possible to uncurseone of them. The best way to do this is with Akuma's Uncurse command, though it doesn't work on some of the cursed items which have particularly strong curses. If you lose any cursed items, you can find them in the FF2 Underworld, in the magma near the Dwarf castle. Cursed Ring: Kakef is equipped with one of these when you get him. If you uncurse it, Kakef gains the Invisibility ability when equipped with it. You can Steal the other from enemies in Kefka's or Sabin's Tower. Cursed Helmet: Jax is equipped with the first Cursed Helmet when you get him. To get the other Cursed Helmet, you have to uncurse the Cursed Boots so you can walk over the magma in the Cave to the Sealed Gate. Cursed Armor: Kakef is wearing one of these when you get him. The other one is hidden in Narshe, near the Mind Control Helmet. Cursed Rod: One is found in a treasure chest in the third level of theAncient Castle. You can uncurse it in 255 battles. Unfortunately, it casts Ultima on your party every time you use it, so it is best to use Akuma's Uncurse command. After you Uncurse it, you'll get the Cross, as well as the Paladin Rod. You can get the other one from killing enemies in the FF2 Underworld. Cursed Arrows: A character becomes equipped with this after being brainwashed by the Ultima2 spell, and your characters can get confused when they're hit by these. Cursed Sword: One of these is hidden in a chest in the cave leading from the Esper Street Fight Arena to WarioLand. The other is equipped by Zemus when you get him. Cursed Loafers: Buy the first pair of Cursed Loafers from the hidden shoestore behind the painting in Jidoor, and uncurse them with Akuma's Uncurseability. The second pair is equipped by the guy at the end of Mario isMissing, Lemmy Koopa. He'll give them up when you beat him. Cursed Boots: The first pair is hidden in Fanatics Tower, right behind the third staircase from the top. The second pair is equipped by Jago when you get him. (Don't unequip them, or he won't be able to use his spin kick.) Cursed Beret: The most mysterious cursed item of all. If you equip Gogo with any four cursed items, Gogo casts a Muddle spell on your airship and all the characters in there will attack your current party. While you're fighting them, the moon from FF2 will crash lands on one of your party members and FuSoYa and Golbez will attack you with the White Meteo spell. If you defeat them all, Golbez gives you the first Cursed Beret. Rayden (from MK2) flies out of the cave where Umaro first appears if you return to Narshe after getting the Ultros Esper. He's wearing the second Cursed Beret, but, being a thunder god, he won't give it to you. (He just flies over to you and says, "Ha ha. I've got the second Cursed Beret and you can't have it," then he flies off.) Cursed Emerald: The first Cursed Emerald is hidden on the FF2 Moon. Just enter the crystal chamber, and the 8 crystals will combine to form the Cursed Emerald. To get the other Cursed Emerald, get out your Sonic & Knuckles cart for the Sega Genesis; the Lock-on technology works for FFIII, too! Just plug FFIII into Sonic & Knuckles, and you will be able to find the Hidden Emerald Chamber. If you collect 100 rings with Knuckles, you will win the Cursed Emerald. ESPERS: Bahamut: In the SUPER SECRET SECRET SECRET ULTRA ENDING, you'll get this in Bahamut's cave after you defeat Bahamut. It teaches you Nuke10 and Bio8. If you play through regularly and get it by killing Doomgaze, you can bet this Esper in the Colosseum, and you'll fight and join up with the Hero from Breath of Fire. Bowser: Challenge Bowser in the Esper Street Fight Arena, beat him, andyou'll get his Esper. Make sure to equip it on Luigi, because if *anyone*else tries to use it (yes, including Mario and Toad) you'll lose Relm --Bowser thinks she's Princess Toadstool. (You can fight Bowser if you really want her back.) Chocobo: You can get this in the Chocobo forest outside Baron. It teaches you Vanish2, whichworks well against Sabin. Warning: You must choose between the Chocobo Esper and the Chocobo Axe, which teaches you Ultima2 after 255 fights. Dryad: Teaches you Mana Magic, Blaster, and Sleep. You'll receive this after defeating Sigma's WarMech. Siggy: You'll get this when Siggy joins your party. It teaches you Fire28, Fire!!, Ultima4, Shock, Shock2, and Shuck. Splitting up the Ultros/Odin/Raiden Esper: Take the Ultros Esper back to the Esper village. Talk to Madonna, after you have General Leo resurrect her. She will betray Maduin's love and fall in love with Odin (Madonna is Odin's second secret mistress eluded to in the Odin dream of Mog. There was a secret mistress to Odin already, wasn't there?). Madonna will make love to Odin, and form _another_ half-esper child. This one will fly away and turn into Raiden. Madonna will be distraught and become an Esper herself. Odin will explode into three pieces; the Ultros Esper, the Odin Esper, and the Raiden Esper. (Odin was inside the Ultros Esper all along, which is how he was able to communicate to Madonna.) Note: To do this scene, you first have to have transformed Odin to Raiden, then Raiden to Ultros. Statue Espers: Kefka can call these when equipped with the appropriatecommand. Ultros: You can upgrade Raiden to become the Ultros Esper in the underwater cave. If you equip Ultros with the Ultros Esper, it teaches everyone the Tentacle spell, and it does a cinema scene where Ultros realizes, for the third time at least, that he is just an octopus. HOW TO GET WHERE: World of Balance: First fight a group of enemies outside the Opera House in the World or Ruin, and cheese them by using the Vanish-Doom technique. You'll win the Cheese. Take the Cheese up to the rafters above the stage and use it. In a few seconds, a whole herd of rats will come out and fight for the Cheese. Challenge their leader, Rattatooie. If you beat him, you'll open up a secret warp to the W.O.B. Once there, head north and fight the four miniature Atma Beasts. If you kill them, a secret passage to the airship Falcon will appear. You can now use this airship to fly anywhere you want. Points of interest include Intangir's island (where you can get Edge), and the Cave to the Sealed Gate, where you can get Meltdown and the Cursed Helmet. You can go back through the warp to return to the World of Ruin. If you bring Gogo through the warp with you, he'll go crazy and leave, changing his name to GoneGone, and you'll be stuck in the W.O.B. and unable to save your game. You can then find Jago if you fly to Mt.Koltz. Take him and your other three party members to GoneGone with Jago'sspin kick. FF2 Overworld: You can cross over to the Overworld of FF2 through the time machine in the Ancient Castle, which is right past Cecil's greatgrandson inthe third basement. (Like the W.O.B., only four characters can go at once.) If you have both GesthalZ and Kefka in your party, Zemus will join you as soon as you arrive. (He'll take the 5th character spot, which you have whilein FF2, and he'll meet you in your airship if you return to FF3.) Otherwise, you'll fight Zemus and he'll suck you back through the portal with Black Hole. After Zemus joins you, sneak up on the engineers and steal the airship Enterprise, which you can use to fly anywhere. Points of interest: Drill through the mountain north of Agart to reach the Underworld, or fly to Mysidia and get the Big Whale to go to the Moon. From the Moon, you can fly back to FF3 through some hole in the Space-Time continuum to get your other party members. FF2 Underworld: There are two ways to get here. 1. You can steal theEnterprise while in FF2 Overworld, and drill down through the mountain north of Agart. 2. Build your own airship from parts at the auction, then take off without attaching the Crystal of Flight. You'll crash and end up in the Underworld. However, once you find Cid (if you haven't done the scene where he admits to building the airships and blows himself up, it'll skip the scene and he'll appear here anyway), he'll repair your airship. If you take this route, you'll lose your chance to get Zemus in the Overworld, but he'll appear on the Moon later. While here (by either route), you can join up with Cid, as well as Luca. You can also find any Cursed items that you've dropped in the magma near the castle. FF2 Moon: There are two ways to get here as well, but they depend on your route to the Underworld. 1. Equip the Crystal of Flight on either Figaro Castle (Edgar's throne) or on the airship you built from the parts at the auction (don't worry, they sell a second one after the guy and his daughter fly away), and you can fly to the FF2 Moon from anywhere by talking to the crystal. (Afterwards, fly to the FF2 Overworld and enter Baron with Kefka and GesthalZ in your party to get Zemus.) 2. If you crash the airship into the Underworld, find Cid, so he can repair it. After this, fly to Mysidia and talk to the Elder. The Elder and all his followers will start wishing away, and eventually the Big Whale will rise out of the water. Once you enter the Big Whale, it'll show a cinema scene of Zemus flying off to the Moon. Follow him into Lunar Subteranne, and he'll join your party. (You'll need Kefka and GesthalZ to convince him that you're bad guys.) Note: If you find and defeat Bahamut, you'll get X-Morph for Terra. When you use it, X-Morph turns her into a dragon like Bahamut (the Fight command in battle is replaced by MegaFlare when morphed) and lasts twice as long. Esper Street Fight Arena: Take Cid to the Colosseum. Have a party member bet something cheap to make Chupon appear. The fighter will get sneezed out of the arena. Fight Chupon again. (Remember, you _want_ to be sneezed.) Do this 5 times, and Cid will get sick of this and makes some cold medicine. (It turns out Chupon only had a cold! That's why he's been sneezing!) Send Cid into the arena after he says he's made the medicine, and he'll give it to Chupon automatically. Chupon will be so grateful that he will become Cid's best buddy and give Cid a big wet kiss. Ken, Ryu, Jax, and Akuma (whether they're in the airship, in your party, or in the stands) will become so angry at the whole business that they'll destroy the Colosseum. Now, you will need to take Edgar and Cid into the ruined Colosseum. They'll rebuild it in their own image (kind of a bizarre mix between Castle Figaro and the Magitek Research Facility). In a trap door, there will be a special arena designed specifically for the Street Fighter characters, Ken and Ryu, but you can take anybody you want in there. A whole bunch of Espers fly in there and take it over, and it becomes the Esper Street Fight Arena. (BTW, the New Colosseum will work just like the old one, but Chupon will be replaced with Siegfried, or Ultros if Siggy joined you, or Darth Vader if bothSiggy and Ultros joined you. And no, you can't get Darth Vader to joinyou!!!) While in the arena, defeat Bowser to get his Esper. WarioLand: Go through the cave just past the Esper Street Fight Arena; you'll appear in Wario's castle. The castle will appear to be vacant, but sleep in Wario's bed and you'll be attacked by the Dark Luigi. (You can also find the Iceball after you beat him.) The shop near Wario's castle is run by Tony, so you can get him here if you missed him in Mario is Missing. The restored world: Take the Crystal of Flight with you into Figaro Castleand place it on Edgar's throne. Now talk to the crystal and Figaro Castle will fly through the air. While on the Moon, go to Bahumut's Cave Subteranne2, where you can fight the Pink Pugs. The Pink Pugs always give you the PugTail if you beat them. Equip this (it's cursed) and fight for 2.55 battles. (It gets uncursed just after you've killed half the bad guys in the third battle.) It will turn into the Kefka Suit, the only suit in the game which can bring the world back into balance. To do this, first equip Kefka with both it and the Paladin Sword, then go to Bahamut's Cave Subteranne 4, where you fight the Black Hole Dragon (looks like a Zone Eater). As soon as the fight begins, the dragon will suck Kefka in and lights will flash. You'll then control Kefka alone inside a secret cave. Go through the cave (it's similar to GoGo's cave) and you'll meet Kakef at the end. It turns out that's Kakef is really Reptile from MK2, and he's just been disguised as your brother all along. The Paladin Sword with Y-Fight works well on him, but you can beat him easily when he disappears by casting the You Lose spell. After you kill him, the dragon will spit you out along with the Dragon God Sword. (If you fight the dragon without Kefka and the right equipment, he'll die and return to life later.) Pick the sword up, and the World will be restored to Balance when you return. As soon as you land, GoGo will go berserk and turn into GoneGone, just like if you brought him there the other way. However, now it'll do a scene where Kefka challenges GoneGone alone, equipped with both the Paladin Sword and the Dragon God Sword. Since Gonegone will summonall of you other characters from the airship, the battle against GoneGone and his tower will be a long hard one, but fortunately GeshtalZ, Zemus, and Garland will join you as you fight. (You heard me right; you use the _bad_ guys and you fight the _good_ guys.) When you win, it does the GoneGone ending and the Bad Guys Win ending. Timewalk: Take the warp from the Opera House to the W.O.B., but, whileinside, go to the secret side path rather than straight ahead. If yougo to the left, you'll eventually find a monster-in-a-box, Atma Armor. Defeat him and you'll get the Black Gun. If you take the path to the right, you'll end up in the Timeless World, at the entrance of the Paladin Castle. Show the guards at the entrance the Demon Sword, and you'll get the Demon Ring. Inside the palace, you'll see a scene between Celes and Kefka where Kefka gives her a ring (presumedly the Demon Ring) and Celes promises to marry him. Timeless World: Leave through the rear of the Temple of the Paladin andfollow the path. You'll reach the Cult Tower (not the Fanatics Tower, but similar.) Youcan't use magic or Espers inside, so it is difficult to get through. At the top of the Tower, you'll find the cult's leader, Ishmu (he looks similar to Kefka). When he sees you, he'll order his general, Cowkef, to attack you. He'll fight you while assisted by soldiers from the Order of the Ebon Cow. After you defeat them, you'll rescue another character also called Cid, who is from FF4 (FF7 in Japan). You'll also receive the 12 Sealed Weapons, which you need to defeat Exodus. Focus Tower: Go into Kefka's or Sabin's Tower through the secret rearentrance and head downward. Eventually you'll go through a cave and enterthe Focus Tower, from Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. Inside the Focus Tower you can find the White Gun. City in the Clouds/ Necrosaro's Castle: Send the Note to the Greater Dragon King by passenger pigeon, and he'll take you to the City in the Clouds. While here, you can find the 8 Dragon Crowns. Give the 8 Dragon Crowns to the 8 Dragons and kill the Great Flying Darth. You'll now return to the City in the Clouds. Climb up to the top of the highest cloud and jump off; you'll end up at the entrance of the cave surrounded by mountains on Necrosaro's Island. Go through the cave to reach Necrosaro's Castle and the Last Refuge. (This is explained fully in the Mystery Dragon Ending.) ENDINGS: There are ten secret endings. However, during the game, you can go through a series of events which, when completed, changes your ending slightly. The events are as follow, and the ending changes are listed below each ending (under Special): SPECIAL ENDING EVENTS: 1. You'll need the Paladin Sword to start. Equip it on any character besides Gogo. (See ending 3 for explanation.) It also helps to bring Mario in case you mess up. 2. Go to the Opera house with a party including Mario and the character. 3. Fight the rats and warp back to the World of Balance. (If the rats areall gone, just cheese the bad guys outside the Opera House by usingVanish-Doom. You'll get the Cheese. Use it on the rafters to call morerats.) 4. Travel to the Serpent Trench. 5. Dive in, making sure that Mario is leading the party. 6. Go RIGHT at every decision point. 7. Eventually you will come to a dead end. Instead of spinning you aroundand making you go back like the game used to, it will stop. After a fewseconds, Leviathan will attack. Your character will go berserk (apparently the Paladin Sword wasn't Uncursed completely) and continually attack Leviathan with the Paladin Sword. This should kill Leviathan. 8.When Leviathan dies, Rydia from FF2 will appear. She will be mad and want to destroy you for killing Leviathan. She tells you how her parents were killed and all that good stuff. She says, "You murderers can't understand!" and is about to attack, but your characters explain about their war against the Empire, about the poisoning of Doma, etc., and she understands and accepts you as friends. She tells you to follow her. 9. This is hard. You have to follow her through a cave, and if you don'tkeep up with her you'll lose her and have to start right after Leviathan again. Besides getting through the maze, the only way out is to have Mario smash the ceiling, which puts you back out on your airship. (That is why you brought Mario.) 10. If you keep up with Rydia, then you will come to the exit of the cave. Outside the cave you'll find yourself right near Eblan, in the FF2 Overworld. (If you try to get here by the other way, the castle will be locked.) Enter the castle, and Rydiawill be in the castle's throne room with her husband Edge. They will invite you to dinner with them that evening. Accept the invitation, then sleep in one of the castle beds. The dinner will begin when you awake. (Note: If you've already found Edge, Rydia will host the dinner party herself. If Edge is in your party, he'll welcome you to the castle, but he won't leave to fight Intangirs later.) There are many guests at the dinner party. They are: Rydia Edge Pit (from Kid Icarus) The Sprite from Secret of Mana Diddy Kong Ridley Bill and Lance (The two guys from Contra) Princess Zelda (She is a snob!) Bubsy Kirby Ryu Hayabusa (from Ninja Gaiden) Chewbacca Lots of people!! After the party, they'll all join you except Edge, the Sprite, and Zelda. (Edge says something about leaving to fight Intangirs, a clue to finding him later.) You won't be able to control them, but they'll follow you everywhere, like in Dragon Warrior. You'll return to your airship through a door in the back of the castle, bringing them all along. At this point, Rydia will join you as a playable character. REGULAR ENDINGS: 1. Sabin Ending: If you equip Sabin with any four Cursed Items simultaneously (I recommend the Cursed Sword, the Cursed Armor, the Cursed Shield, and the Cursed Helmet), Sabin turns to a Dark Knight, KILLS Kefka, and takes over the world for himself. Pretty cool. Instead of fightingKefka at the end, you fight him. He is almost impossible to beat. The Vanish and X-zone or Doom trick does not work on him and almost nothing can hit him. A good group of characters to attack Sabin with are Ryu, Ken, Akuma, and any fourth party member. If you bring Ryum make sure he has the Fireball equipped; he'll stuff Sabin at the beginning of the fight and stop him from chanting Ultima2. Otherwise, Sabin will always cast Ultima2 right away and all of your characters from the airship will form a tower under him, just like in the GoneGone ending. (Talk about an impossible fight; they all have Cursed Arrows equipped!) Special: You'll see the ending for the groups of friends all together. They all come out and each do a little move characteristic of them while escaping from the Tower. The Contra guys blast a hole in a wall through which you escape, Pit flies over a hole and throws a switch to extend a bridge and allow the rest to cross, etc. I don't want to tell you all of them; beat it and see for yourself. 2. Bad Guys Win Ending: If you use Kefka, Kakef, GesthalZ, and Zemus together to infiltrate Sabin's Tower and fight Sabin, you'll get to see aspecial ending. Kefka takes over the world and the following scenes are really neat, but unfortunately Exodus kills him. It also shows a scene of Garlandlaughing in some remote castle. Special: No difference, except that you see the new characters get killedtoo. 3. GoneGone Ending: If you take Gogo back to the World of Balance, he'll become GoneGone and proceed to take over the world. After you do this, you'll be stuck in the W.O.B. and won't be able to save your game. Climb to the top of Mt. Koltz and find Jago, then use his Hangon spell and his spin kick to reach GoneGone. When the fight starts, GoneGone casts the Figual spell (from Lufia) and Muddles all the characters on your airship, which you then have to fight tier by tier, just like Kefka's Tower of Monsters. (If you equip Gogo with four cursed items at any point in the game, the same thing happens.) When you defeat them, you face GoneGone. The best characters to use against GoneGone are Kefka and Kakef (their Twin attack works well), Akuma (just Uncurse GoneGone four times to defeat him), or Leo (Burn works really well). You also have Jago, because it's impossible to get to GoneGone without the Spin Kick. (Unless you do the Ultra Combo Ending.) Special: None. 4. M.Bison Ending: Contrary to popular belief, it _is_ possible to fight M.Bison at the end. Put Ryu, Ken, and Akuma in your party, and enter Tzen. A warp zone will open up, and you'll find yourself at M. Bison's stage in Thailand. It'll switch to a one-on-one battle of Akuma vs. M. Bison and the screen will turn white. Use the Fight command six times consecutively, and M. Bison will be dead (Akuma does two 3 hit combos, just like in the arcade). Though you don't actually save the world from Kefka, Sabin, or GoneGone, the credits now start rolling and you have to reset the game to keep playing, so this is considered an ending. Special: None. 5. The Espers-Don't-Die Ending: If you find Meltdown, Leo, Mario, and Baram, you can see a special ending. Bring those four characters (along with any others you want) into Kefka's Tower. To help you get through the tower, we recommend using the following Character -- Esper pairs: Meltdown -- Bowser Gen Leo -- Alexandr Kappa -- Starlet Terra -- Chocobo Gogo -- Maduin Baram -- Raiden* Locke -- Kirin Ryu -- Tritoch Luigi -- Zoneseek Sabin -- Odin Gau -- Ultros Mario -- Dryad * You have to separate the Ultros Esper back into the three parts to get Raiden, Odin, and Ultros. When you win the game, the Espers will not die, but change back to living beings. Special: Same as ending 1. 6. Erdrick Ending: After finding Erdrick, a scene happens immediately after the next time Kefka appears on screen. (Note: Like the Mega Man X Hadoken trick, you have to find Erdrick and do the scene without saving it.) Kefka and Erdrick warp to Mobliz and begin fighting. Kefka attacks with Laugh and Moo, but Moo hits just as Erdrick is jumping, changing Erdrick into a cow. For about 5 minutes, Kefka keeps casting spells until the cow falls on him. The credits roll and the cow breaks the ledge it's standing on. With Kefka under him, he falls into the lava. Special: None, since this doesn't show your characters at the end. 7. Mystery Dragon Ending: This ending is so secret, even the programmers at SquareSoft don't know about it yet. There's a Note on one of the tables when you first visit the Returner's Hideout. If you have Terra look at it, she has the option of throwing it away or leaving it alone. If she leaves it there, Banon will show up and throw it away a little later. In the World of Ruin, get Cid to join your party, and take him back to where the Hideout would be in the Serpent Trench. Cid will dig up the Note. Take it to the passenger pigeons in Maranda, and send it off. The Greater Dragon King will show up, and take you to the City in the Clouds, where you get the Eight Dragon Crowns. Give the eight Dragon Crowns to all eight Dragons. (If you've already killed them, just wander around the Veldt for a while and they'll fight you again.) Once the last Dragon gets its Crown, the sky will turn black and you'll fight the Great Flying Darth. Beat it, and the Greater Dragon King will appear and once again carry you back up to the City in the Clouds. Go to the top of the highest cloud and jump off. You'll end up on Necrosaro's Island in Dragon Warrior 4, at the entrance of the cave blocked by mountains. Go through the cave and come out; you'll end up at the Last Refuge and the entrance to Necrosaro's castle will be unlocked. The ghost at the Last Refuge will give you the Airship Horn. Go through the castle and use the Airship Horn on the other side. Your airship will appear with all of your other party members, and it will follow you like a wagon. Climb the volcano to where Necrosaro stood and you'll find Garland. As you fight him, he'll morph into Chaos, piece by piece, while you knock off 200,000 hit points. When he appears to be dying, he'll morph again and turn into Zeromus. After you take off about 106,000 more hit points, he'll turn into Exodus (a giant tree). Knock off about 50,000 more hit points, and he'll finally turn into Kefka. Now you only need to knock off about 65,000 more hit points to kill him. He returns to his original form, Garland, as he dies. Though 421,000 hit points seems a little high, you should be able to beat him easily if you have 30 or more secret characters, in addition to the 14 original ones. The ending shows your characters in black and white as they climb out through Necrosaro's castle and cave, then it takes you back up to the City in the Clouds for a Dragon Warrior 4 type conclusion. Special: It shows all the extra characters in the City in the Clouds, and they each say a line or two. 8. Ultra Combo ending: (This is tricky to do. Note: All characters except Kefka will appear in these scenes whether or not they've joined you.) Put Kefka in your party. Take the Crystal of Flight (from the Ancient Castle) with you into Figaro Castle and place it on Edgar's throne. Now talk to the crystal and Figaro Castle will fly through the air and land on the FF2 Moon. While on the Moon, go to Bahamut's Cave Subteranne 3, where you can fight the Pink Pugs. The Pink Pugs always give you the Pug tail if you beat them. Equip this (it's cursed) and fight for 2.55 battles. (It gets uncursed just after you've killed half the bad guys in the third battle.) It will turn into the Kefka Suit, the only suit in the game which can bring the world back into balance. Now, equip Kefka with both the Kefka Suit and the Paladin Sword, and he'll be able to unlock the seal on the entrance to Bahamut's Cave Subteranne 4. Take him down there and you'll fight the Black Hole Dragon (looks like a Zone Eater). As soon as the fight begins, the dragon will suck Kefka in and lights will flash. You'll then control Kefka alone inside a secret cave. Go through the cave (it's similar to GoGo's cave) and you'll meet Kakef at the end. It turns out that Kakef is really Reptile from MK2, and he's just been disguised as your brother all along. The Paladin Sword with Y-Fight works well on him, but you can beat him easily when he disappears by casting the You Lose spell. After you kill him, the dragon will spit you out along with the Dragon God Sword. Pick the sword up, and a scene will start where you flythe airship back to FF3, but the World will be restored to Balance when you return. You'll land outside the Opera House. As soon as you land, GoGo will go berserk and turn into GoneGone, just like if you brought him here through the Opera House warp. Now it'll do a scene where Kefka challenges GoneGone, equipped with both the Paladin Sword and the Dragon God Sword. Since Gonegone will summon all of your other characters from the airship, the battle against GoneGone and his Tower of Heroes will be a long, hard one, but fortunately the Dragon God Sword randomly casts Life3 on your party while you fight, and GeshtalZ, Zemus, and Garland will join you as you progress up the tower. (You heard me right; you use the _bad_ guys and you fight the _good_ guys.) Kill all the good guys, then you'll face GoneGone. Since you can't use Kakef, Leo, or Akuma against him, he's harder to beat, but a good strategy is to use Kefka's Double spell and keep attacking, GeshtalZ's PMorph and keep attacking, Zemus's Big Bang repeatedly, and Garland's Morph and keep attacking. If you're about to lose, do Garland's Warp to start the battle over again. After you win, it'll do a short scene in the basement of the rich man's house in South Figaro. Kefka and Celes will be walking through, looking for Kefka's tux so he can marry Celes. (This makes sense if you did the scene in the Paladin Castle.) They'll walk past the second prison room and hear a muffled cry for help, then this dialogue commences: KEFKA: "?? What was that noise?" CELES: "What is it, Kefka?" KEFKA: "I thought I... what?? Could it be?" (He looks into the prison room.) CELES: "What? What?" KEFKA: "It's Kakef! Kakef's in there! Kakef!" (At this point, Kefka rips the door from its hinges.) KEFKA: "Kakef!" (Kakef is in shackles on the wall.) KEFKA: "Brother! Are you all right?" (Kefka unties and ungags Kakef.) KAKEF: "Re... Reptile! Where is that stinking lizard? I'll tear him to pieces!" KEFKA: "He's gone, along with all the other bad guys. This world's going to be a fun place to live in again!" KAKEF: "You mean you're a good guy now, too? All right! Who's that?" KEFKA: "This is my bride-to-be, CELES. We're getting married as soon as I find my tux. Say, would you be my best man?" After the wedding, it shows the GoneGone Ending and the Bad Guys Win Ending. Then it shows the Espers Don't Die Ending, then the Erdrick Ending, then the Mystery Dragon Ending, and finally the SUPER SUPER SUPER SECRET ULTRA ENDING. (Then the words "6 ending, 1 wedding ULTRA COMBO" appear on the screen, and it says "Ultraaaaaaaaaa Combo!!" That's why this is called the Ultra Combo ending.) Special: It does the special version of each of the 6 endings instead of the regular version, and it writes "6 special ending, 1 awesome wedding ULTRA COMBO" on the screen at the end instead of the normal writing. 9. SUPER SUPER SUPER SECRET ULTRA ENDING: I bet nobody found the SUPER SUPER SUPER SECRET ULTRA ENDING in FF3. At the start of the game, get Wedge and Vicks to level 59 before you find the Esper. (Make sure you found all of the cursed items; just wait 2 hours in front of the cave and Umaro will jump out and give them to you.) The Esper will kill Terra but spare Wedge and Vicks. You'll then head back to Vector where you'll get to control the Empire. Gesthal has wicked magic (just like GeshtalZ), and Kefka rocks, even before he gets the statue powers. Leo is good but you have to kill him when he switches sides. Head to the Opera House; Kefka and Gesthal will start to sing a duet, and when the audience starts to boo they will use their magic to destroy the whole place. The Impresario will then turn into Dr. Lugae from FF2. Kill him to get the Bahamut Esper (Teaches Nuke10 and Bio8). Head to Doma and brainwash Cyan with Kefka's Laugh. Then head to every town and wreak massive destruction. (You'll fight Returners as bosses.) After you get bored of wreaking destruction, revive the Floating Continent and destroy the world. (Kefka will kill Gesthal, but then he will have a tough fight against Wedge and Vicks.) Now, just use the Light of Judgement to destroy all the new towns until you get bored. When the heroes come, use Fallen One and Havok Wing to destroy them. Go find Gogo and Umaro and take them plus Cyan (who is still brainwashed) to Doma and enter Cyan's dream. Instead of Larry, Moe, and Curley, you'll fight the Hero, Girl, and Sprite from Secret of Mana. Once you win, you'll get the Flammie Drum. Call Flammie and head to the fortress. Use the time machine and head to FF2, then use the fortress's power to make the moon crash into the world. The screen will go black and the game will become FF1 (only you use Kefka, Akuma, Zemus, and GesthalZ as characters). Play through FF1, and when you win (Laugh works well against Chaos) a really long ending will start. I can't tell you what happens because I always have to eat supper just when it starts. That is how you get the SUPER SECRET SECRET SECRET ULTRA ENDING. Special: You can't possibly get the secret characters with this ending. 10. Ultimate Ending: First, get the Sealed Weapons from the Timeless World by beating Cowkef. Then go to the FF2 Moon in either the Big Whale, the Auction House airship, or Figaro Castle. Enter FuSoYa's cave and head down to the center of the moon. Equip all the Sealed Weapons, which include: Excalipur Masamune Doom Bow Berserk Axe Pink Pug tail (whip) Cow Bell Excalibur Love bow Cupid arrows Paladin Sword Moon Staff Moon Rod Exodus will appear, and you'll fight him. When you beat him, he'll cast Ultima4 and wreak havok across the W.O.R., FF2 World, and the Timeless World, merging them into the World Beyond Ruin (W.B.R.) A lot of places will be gone now and Terra's Castle (Teratio) will appear. The screen will go dark, and you'll end up right outside Teratio with only Terra, Cecil, Zemus, Kefka, and ????? in your party. ????? claims to be the last guy from FF4 (FF7 in Japan), and you can't control him. Go inside the castle and head up to the 7th floor throne room. Inside is Garland, who explains that the entire FF series is just a time loop, and that your characters are actually all good guys, and that he's been tricking you into fighting each other all along. (He says a little and takes a step back twice, just like in FF1.) Garland will then Morph into Chaos, and you'll fight him. The best strategy is to use Terra's Morph and Atma Weapon/ Excalipur attack, Cecil's Paladin Sword attack, Zemus's Black Hole and Meteo spell, and Kefka's Double spell, followed by the R. Mage rage. ????? will attack and use some really strange spell called Moogual, which works pretty well. Garland has 200,000 hit points. Once you beat him, you'll see the modified FF1, FF2, FFE, FF3 combo ending, which is similar to the endings of the four games combined, and goes on for over an hour. Special: What, don't you think the ending is special enough already?
